In response to the Tigers relief pitchers failing to throw strikes: I was always told to put the ball over the plate and have faith in your fielders.

In the big leagues, I notice the pitchers trying to throw low and at the corner of the plate. I'm certain that will cause the batter to hit a ground ball, but the probability of that being a called strike is less and the batters will take the pitch.

When leading by a lot, just put it over the plate and trust your fielders!
