My head is spinning. With Iran, the administration is playing us for fools: Thoughts for the Day, June 10, 2026
It’s close. The end is near. Iran wants a deal. It is going to happen soon.
If your head is spinning and you are not sure what is going on with the War in Iran, you are not alone.
I have lived through the Vietnam War, the first attack on Iraq, the invasion of Iraq, the Afghanistan War. I have never experienced anything like what we are experiencing now. It is not only Trump who is stringing us along, but also key members of his administration. Within hours contradictory comments can be coming from Trump, Vance, Hegseth, or Rubio. I feel like they are playing us for fools, who will accept whatever they throw at us.
Per a recent analysis by CNN’s Aaron Blake, President Donald Trump has announced that an end to the U.S. war on Iran was around the corner 38 times since he launched the war at the end of February,
Trump first announced that a deal was pending on March 23, when he claimed that “major points of agreement” — indeed, “almost all points of agreement” — had been reached between all parties involved. Since then, it has been BS piled on BS piled on BS.

Quick Thoughts
College sports are out of control, and I don’t know who to point the finger toward. This week it got UGLY. A Texas judge granted Brendan Sorsby a temporary injunction allowing the quarterback to play for Texas Tech after Sorsby was declared ineligible after violating NCAA rules and placing more than $90,000 worth of bets on sports including more than 40 wagers on the Indiana Hoosiers while he was a member of the Indiana football team. Texas Tech is standing by their player who currently is enrolled in treatment for his gambling addiction. Athletic directors throughout the country are asking their coaches to not schedule any competition with Texas Tech in any sport if Texas Tech plays Sorsby. Texas Tech is Sorsby third school in his college career. There is an Onion of the Day in there somewhere.
Eastern Michigan University baseball hired Mike Ott as their head coach on June 2. On June 9, Ott resigned from EMU to return to Division III Kalamazoo College where he was coach for 14 years prior to taking the EMU job. The official word is that Ott resigned from EMU for personal reasons. The unofficial word is that Ott’s personal coaching beliefs do not align with the current landscape of Division 1 athletics.
There is something wrong with our laws when a president can tear down a portion of The Peoples’ House (The White House) without any oversight or approval from Congress and then claim in court that it is too late to do anything about it. Sorry judge, “My Bad.”
The New York Knicks thought they had everything under control. They had won 13 games in succession and were looking to take a 3-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately for the Knicks, the Spurs had other ideas. Elation turned to concern for Knicks fans in three hours on Monday. If the Spurs win tonight, panic will set in for Knicks fans and Spike Lee will be jumping further onto the court than he did on Monday.
I received the following response to my blog on Monday from a close friend who also grew up in River Rouge in the 60s and 70s. Here is his response.
The worst 5 Detroit suburbs to grow up in? Well in my opinion, it’s really all about perspective. Granted you have a fair amount of statistical data, to point to these cities. Things have really spiraled downward in the last 40 years. Shit happens, as we all know. I too would like to go back, to when I was a kid growing up in #1. Well in spite of all the challenges, my perspective is, it was a good place to grow up in. Everybody knew one another, where you lived and a whole lot more. There were athletes throughout the city, competition was tough, and respect was indeed earned. Tom mentions we were blessed with “street smarts”, this my friends is priceless. In addition to having “smarts”, we learned how to deal with, a diverse population within the city. This helped develop some very successful individuals…. Many have moved on from the city, which has added to the decline, but back in the day, it was a great place to grow up.

Quote of the Day: This from Mary Geddry. Trump’s America wants to host the world, police the world, bomb parts of the world, sell tickets to the world, deny visas to the world, and hand itself prizes for peace while the missiles are still warm. It wants cheaper gas while blockading Hormuz, lower inflation while escalating an energy war, lower interest rates while prices accelerate, trustworthy data while punishing the people who produce it, and a global sporting festival with a velvet rope at the border. So that is where we leave the morning: with missiles flying, prices rising, tickets soaring, borders tightening, and Trump forever standing at the imaginary threshold of a peace deal that keeps not arriving.
